West Cashmere Bridge-Open to Traffic!

June 12, 2022 marked the grand opening of the West Cashmere Bridge, which has been under construction for the past two years. This major bridge replacement crosses over the Wenatchee River, BNSF, and US 2 in Chelan County and includes a 725-foot, three span structure as well as a roundabout. The purpose of the project was to replace the previously existing structure, which was deteriorating and required constant maintenance. The bridge connects SR 2 to Sunset Highway on the south side of the Wenatchee River and provides another route to Highway 2 from Cashmere for public use and improved access for semi-trucks to get to businesses without going through the city streets of Cashmere. The roundabout provides safe entry for five points of access down to the signal at SR2 as well as traffic calming. The new design balances the needs of the travelling community, residents, stakeholders, environmental concerns, and railroad requirements.
