West Cashmere Bridge Replacement

TranTech served as the prime consultant of a multidisciplinary team that provided design and construction management services for this major bridge replacement that crosses over the Wenatchee River, BNSF, and WSDOT US 2 in Chelan County. The old bridge, originally constructed in 1929, consisted of steel trusses and concrete girder approach spans. The bridge has been deteriorating rapidly in recent years and required constant maintenance and occasional closures.

The new replacement bridge and its alignment is based on the requirements of environmental permitting, railroad crossing, and work within WSDOT right-of-way. The new design calls for a 42-foot wide and 715-foot long, three-span steel plate-girder bridge. The project required extensive coordination with WSDOT, BNSF, including a Construction & Maintenance (C&M) Agreement; WDFW, area stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
