SR 410 Wall Design

TranTech designed and provided engineering support during construction for this non-motorized improvements project on SR 410 for the City of Bonney Lake.

The TranTech team provided construction documents for civil improvements which included sidewalk widening, ADA, and illumination for a stretch of approximately one mile as well as documentation for structural improvements, including design of several wall types such as SEW, soldier pile, and cantilever with footing. Moreover, TranTech collaborated with the City to incorporate architectural design features onto the wall faces.

The soldier pile wall had to be constructed without any tie-backs as they would have encroached into a private property. The TranTech team worked diligently with the team’s geotechnical engineer to complete a refined incremental stress analysis. This analysis allowed for the design of the soldier pile wall to be constructed with no tie-back, by utilizing a heavier H-pile section for the highest wall heights.
