Kackman Creek Culvert Replacement

As a major subconsultant, TranTech provided Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) for the structural and roadway components of this project. Three alternatives for a new creek crossing were evaluated: a bottomless box culvert, a bottomless metal arch culvert, and a bridge with a roughened channel. Of those three, the bridge option was chosen to be advanced to full design and consists of a 110-foot long, 32-foot wide, one span precast concrete girder bridge. TranTech submitted the construction documents for the new bridge in February 2020, only six months after the 30% design was approved. The girders are 42-inch deep, thin-decked, prestressed bulb-T girders configured with the top flanges in contact to provide continuous support and eliminate formwork for the installation of a 6.5-inch, cast-in-place composite concrete deck. Construction was completed in 2021.Client/Owner: Stillaguamish Tribe/Snohomish County
