Challenges include working over and within the Wenatchee River, constructing a work access bridge, limited staging area for the demolition of the existing bridge and the construction of the new bridge, and the construction of 5 and 10-foot diameter shafts. This work requires close coordination with BNSF and documentation that meets FHWA, WSDOT, and regulatory agency requirements.
