TranTech provided construction management services for this complex pedestrian and bicycle bridge over I-5 that connects the newly constructed Sound Transit Station with North Seattle College. This 1,300+ foot structure includes a steel truss span, a steel thru girder span, prestressed slab and cast-in-place box girders, structural earth walls, and drilled shafts.
The project also includes multi-use paths and a two-way protected bike lane on the west side of 1st Ave NE from NE 92nd to 103rd St, utilities, traffic signals, lighting and overhead catenary poles; traffic control, landscaping and urban design features. Stakeholders include WSDOT, Sound Transit, North Seattle Community College, and adjacent neighborhoods and businesses. Environmental complexities include wetlands and fish-bearing creeks. Construction was completed in 2021.
