Fairview Avenue N. Bridge Replacement Inspection Services

As a subconsultant to another firm, TranTech is providing construction inspection services for the Fairview Avenue N. Bridge Replacement in Seattle, WA.
Located on the southeast shore of Lake Union next to the historic Lake Union Steam Plant building, the previously existing section of the bridge carrying Fairview Avenue N was built more than 65 years ago and was the last timber-supported bridge on a major road in Seattle. The bridge was structurally unstable, vulnerable to earthquakes and in need of replacement. The new bridge will be 540’ long and consist of 2.5m drilled shafts and 135’ long prestressed girders. Challenges include working over water, historic building proximity (2’ from edge of bridge), construction of an office building adjacent to bridge, overhead power transmission lines and minimal laydown area. TranTech’s inspection tasks include providing IDR’s, pay estimates, daily photos, PH and turbidity monitoring.
