Sweet Road Reconstruction

The City of Blaine needed to urgently reconstruct Sweet Road as high truck volumes and extreme winter weather conditions were accelerating failure of the pavement section serving its busy industrial parks. The City was awarded TIB funding to construct the project, but the accelerating pavement failure required the City to advertise for construction less than four months after receiving funding.

TranTech worked quickly to prepare grading plans, storm water management plans, paving plans, channelization plans, and to assemble completed 90% contract documents by early April, 2017. The City then discovered the existing water main throughout the project corridor was asbestos concrete pipe, which also required replacement. TranTech added 1,600 feet of replaced water main to the contract documents and this $675K project was awarded for construction by June 2017.
