Roeder Avenue Overlay

Located on the Bellingham waterfront between Squalicum Way and C Street, this project includes resurfacing approximately 6,700 feet of street with warm-mix asphalt (WMA), ADA pedestrian ramp and sidewalk improvements along the corridor, stormwater improvements, and channelization revisions including new bicycle lanes. Coordination was provided with Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad due to a rail crossing near the project mid-point and improvements near the intersections of “F” and “C” Streets. The City and the Port of Bellingham are partnering on the telecommunication conduits to be installed between Bellwether and C Street that will service the Georgia Pacific redevelopment site. TranTech also prepared landscaping details and species selection for over 120 street trees to be removed and replaced. The buffered and traditional bike lanes designed by TranTech in compliance with AASHTO and NACTO standards, complete a link of continuous bike lanes from central Bellingham all the way to the waterfront. TranTech prepared the complete contract documents for advertisement. The project is funded by local street and Transportation Benefit District funds.
