Green River Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation
City of Tukwila
TranTech has provided the City of Tukwila the rehabilitation PS&E construction documents for this 170-foot long and 7-foot wide pedestrian bridge.
The Bridge's 2005 inspection report suggests replacing rotted bottom-chord laminations. Also, Floor beams and Stringers are reported to be in State 1 but the stringers are reported to be untreated and weathered.
Based on the Inspection Report, a 3-D truss model was utilized to assess the truss elements. The elements with deterioration were subjected to cross sectional reduction. Next, a Demand to Capacity analysis of the Bridge's primary elements was performed.
TranTech supplied the PS&E construction documents to the City. The Rehabilitation calls for repairs on some rot pockets on the primary truss elements including the bottom chord elements; replacing the deck with a non-skid surface and painting. Recently, the City of Tukwila has authorized TranTech to provide Construction Administration on this exciting project.
As part of the PS&E package, TranTech also provided Coating and Containment specifications which included provisions for initial preparations of the existing timber for coating purposes.
