Broadway Avenue Bridge Replacement
City of Everrett
The Broadway Bridge, 100 feet long and 100 feet wide, carries 5 lanes of traffic and 2 sidewalks over the BNSF Railroad main line and a Sound Transit rail line. The existing steel frame bridge has a limited functional service life. TranTech is currently preparing a TS&L Report which will provide 3 options for the replacement of the bridge. TranTech will provide the design and the construction management for the chosen alternative. Special considerations regarding this project are:
- The bridge construction will require keeping two lanes of vehicular traffic open over the bridge and the BNSF and Sound Transit lines operable.
- Current railroad clearance standards require raising the roadway grade. A shallow bridge superstructure and a considerable amount of retaining wall modification or replacement will be necessary to accommodate these requirements.
- The Broadway Bridge Replacement project is located in the heart of the City of Everett’s Central Business District, therefore aesthetic considerations are an important decision parameter.
