Alan Gage, PE, PTOE

Al Gage is a skilled project manager of traffic engineering operations, signal design, illumination design, and transportation safety engineering projects. His experience includes PS&E design of signal systems, bridge electrical systems, illumination systems, and safety features, as well as ground transportation access analysis, traffic impact analysis, and travel demand forecasting. His work for Snohomish County Public Works and WSDOT brought hands-on experience with state and local jurisdictions. His career highlights include innovating the standard installation of video detection for traffic signal systems in the Northwest, resulting in increased reliability and reduced maintenance and worker exposure to traffic. He also implemented back-up UPS systems for Snohomish County, reducing the potential problems of dark signals during power outages, when safety is a critical issue. Additionally, Al designed the electrical system for the third Lake Washington floating bridge system, which included significant grounding and safety issues.

Port of Bellingham, Roeder Ave./Bellwether Way Intersection | Bellingham, WA

Traffic Engineer. Led traffic design for this intersection modification project beginning with investigating alternatives including roundabouts. Performed traffic operation analysis and prepared construction cost estimates for each alternative; developed an evaluation matrix with factors such as safety, construction timeline, right-of-way, and environmental impacts; and provided the recommendation. Provided the design for the chosen signal, for which TranTech provided project management and construction inspection.

City of Everett, Broadway Avenue Bridge Replacement | Everett, WA

Traffic Engineer. Prepared three conceptual renderings for alternative approaches to conform with AASHTO requirements for sight distance and full operation of the Hewitt and Broadway intersection, in conjunction with the raised alignment over the BNSF tracks. Prepared wiring details and specifications to facilitate color burst lighting, stairway lighting and coordination of electrical elements.

Traffic Engineer. Prepared traffic control for bridges to be inspected, some on short notice.

Senior Traffic Engineer Responsible for traffic signalization, ITS, and illumination for this $120 million project on I-405, which was part of the larger I-405 Corridor Project.
